Buskers By The Lake is one of Australia’s most creative and eclectic festivals, known for pushing the boundaries of live performance. For the 2023 edition, organisers wanted a show-stopping centrepiece that embodied the festival’s energy, originality and lakeside setting. The goal: create an unforgettable visual spectacle that would captivate crowds and generate media buzz.

Salt Story Co partnered with Chiggy’s Skateboarding to dream up and deliver a floating mini ramp — a custom-built skate ramp placed atop a barge, right in the middle of the lake. We oversaw logistics, engineering, safety protocols, council approvals, branding, and talent coordination to ensure the ramp became the feature spectacle of the weekend. The ramp hosted demos, competitions and crowd-pleasing skate showcases from local pros and rising stars, all while floating on water.

Outcome

The floating ramp became the most talked-about activation of the entire festival. It drew massive crowds, media attention, and went viral across social media platforms. Not only did it bring incredible energy and visual impact to the festival, but it also cemented Salt Story Co’s reputation for delivering bold, technically challenging and culturally resonant activations that drive engagement and create lasting memories.
